FAQ's - here are some of our most asked question

We've tried to cover some of the most common topics that come up when people get in touch, but we're always happy to answer any questions! Just get in touch and let us know.

What age do we work with?

Due to the nature of it being a working farm, and to be able to ensure safety around the horses, are sessions are aimed at 8 years +, with no upper age limit

Due to the content, the OCN qualifications are aimed at 12 years +

We might be able to accomodate sessions for younger children if parents are able to stay on site for the duration

Why don't we offer riding?

Whilst we recognise that riding offers huge benefits in line with what we are trying to achieve, so does ground work and learning to care for them

These sessions offer more than riding, a chance to really bond with the horses and get to know them and how to look after them. Riding is great too, but its just a different service to what we offer!

What do sessions involve?

There really is no "typical" session and they vary hugely from person to person.

Sessions will usually start off with meeting the horses, trying out animal care like poo picking, grooming, making feeds, working with the horses in hand, and then progress from there with where natural interests begin to shine through. Some people end up spending much more time with the dogs, doing DIY, or spending time out in the community to  build confidence!

Testimonials

"My 16 year old daughter has had many lovely sessions with Georgie and will continue to do so. Georgie's sessions provide an opportunity to be out in nature, working with and building skills with animals which is fantastic for mental health. Her calm and patient manner make Georgie a wonderful person to learn from in a very peaceful environment. It's also lots of fun! I would highly recommend"

"The Little Hut has been a great place of balance and calm for my teen Audhd Daughter.  It is a place where she feels heard and respected as an individual.  This has allowed her to engage positively with adults in a nurturing teaching environment."
